Madame Tussauds honors Whitney Houston with 4 wax figures
After her untimely passing in 2012, a famed wax museum has unveiled four new figures in Whitney Houston’s honor. Madame Tussauds released photos Wednesday of the new figures that highlight key moments in the songstress’s life; her 1992 role in The Bodyguard, her 1988 “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” music video, her 1991 Super Bowl performance, and a 2009 album photo shoot.
“We were extremely honored when Madame Tussauds approached us about doing four figures of Whitney from different points in her 30-year career,” Houston’s manager and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, said in a statement on behalf of the family. “This is something we are excited to do for the fans.”
In Madame Tussauds’ 200-year history this marks the first time that the museum has simultaneously created so many different figures of the same subject. Each figure was created in London but will be distributed to different cities. An official unveiling ceremony will take place later today.
