Yes, for the most part we possess the right of free speech and assembly without fear of government reprisals, but those inalienable rights come with responsibilities. This is what the brunette bimbo’s brain fails to grasp.
You cannot, for example, yell “fire” in a theater nor say the word “bomb” in an airport. These two instances would incite panic, a stampede, possible injury and death and would exhaust precious police resources to investigate. This is why laws were passed to make such utterances illegal.
At the same token, you cannot continue to make repeated pronouncements filled with violent imagery and expect that, when violence visits your political enemies unexpectedly, you should be absolved of all responsibility for what you said. If you believed that you had nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about, then why did you remove the “crosshairs” campaign from your website? That is the clearest indication of your camp’s feelings of guilt.
Black organizations know all too well what it is like to be placed under legal and illegal scrutiny by its own government for so-called provocative speech. This is what former attorney general Robert F. Kennedy said regarding the Nation of Islam:
“Because of the pronouncements of some of their leaders, it is something that is being watched for any violations of the law, of the federal laws. It is a situation that is being watched by the Department of Justice.”
Notice how a powerful government official said “pronouncements” led to a full-fledged investigation of an organization when it didn’t even committ offiical acts of violence. The government was concerned what their “pronouncements” would incite the masses to do. Considering the violent imagery that the Black Panthers once had, and that the New Black Panthers possess, imagine what would be happening now if the group had placed crosshairs on districts of their philosophical enemies, only to have one of them wind up being shot in the head. All hell would break loose and the heavens would unleash a mighty roar. The FBI, the CIA, the DEA, the DOD, the NSA and the local and state police would all be investigating them while the Fraternal Order of Police would be calling for capital punishment for the perpetrator.
Some people believe that Palin should suffer severe consequences for spewing evil, hate and violence. There is a petition going around on Facebook demanding that Palin be held culpable in the assassination attempt of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. This won’t solve the issue, but it might force Palin to take inventory of her words and imagery. –terry shropshire
