Without a home game in the playoffs, the Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears to earn a trip to Dallas. Their improbable run was cemented with a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Cowboys Stadium.
The Packers were able to maintain a lead throughout the game by capitalizing off of several of the Steelers’ costly mistakes. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw two first half interceptions and the Packers were able to score touchdowns off of each turnover and led 21-10 at halftime.
The Steelers gained momentum after halftime by scoring a touchdown and making it a 21-17 ball game. But the Packers took advantage of Rashard Mendenhall’s third quarter fumble and regained control.
The Packers played an almost flawless game and did not turn the ball over once. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earned MVP honors.
NFL fans should savor this moment. Due to a pending lockout and disagreement between owners and players, there might not be any more NFL games in 2011. –amir shaw
