Bronx-born hip-hop star Fat Joe was sentenced to four months in prison back in August for tax evasion, and the rapper surprised everyone this week when he came home a few weeks early. Joe was released from prison in Miami’s Federal Detention Center just in time to enjoy Thanksgiving with his family. DJ Nasty posted on Instagram that “Joey Crack” was home.
Former music manager James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond was sentenced to life in prison yesterday (Oct. 25th) following his June 2012 conviction on 13 federal charges. Rosemond was accused of heading the “Rosemond Organization,” a criminal enterprise that trafficked cocaine throughout several major U.S. cities.
Rapper-singer Lauryn Hill has been released from prison after serving her three month sentence for failing to file tax returns. The former Fugee served her time at the federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, a minimum security facility. Hill pleaded guilty to failing to pay taxes on more than $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007.
