It seems like every year NeNe Leakes plays around with the idea of leaving “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” but, as expected, she has remained loyal to the lucrative brand. And although many fans have pondered what the show would be like without Leakes, Kandi Burruss recently weighed in on the subject and shared how she feels the show would fare without its senior star.
During last night’s appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Burruss discussed Leakes’ tenure on the show and explained that she thinks “RHOA” would survive without Leakes.
“I think it would be fine, to be honest with you. I know everybody’s like, ‘Oh, that would be crazy!’ But people thought it was gonna be crazy when Kim left the show and our ratings went up, they didn’t go down,” Burruss said.
Burruss then explained that there’s no one person on the show who can make or break it.
“I just feel like we gotta remember that the show is not about one person. It’s about everybody. So it depends on the people we continue to add to the next season because some years you add people and they’re adding all kinds of craziness to the show, or people that you wouldn’t expect. If you get somebody great to add to the show, then it can continue to go on. If you don’t, then it depends on the chemistry,” Burruss explained.
She then said about Leakes, “No offense to her but … I think she’s great. Don’t get me wrong, I think NeNe is great for the show. I wanna make that clear because I know everybody’s like, ‘oh, she’s hating.’ I think she’s great for the show, but I feel like the show is bigger than one person. If that was the case, her show by herself would’ve had the same numbers as ‘Housewives.’ ”
Well, you can’t really argue with Burruss’ logic, but there’s also no doubt that the show wouldn’t be the same without Leakes.
