Kenya Moore has certainly been threatened before by her fellow “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast mates, but threats turned into real life violence this past Sunday on part one of the reunion show when Porsha Williams dragged Moore by her hair after a verbal altercation between the two enemies. Though many are still wondering about rumors that Williams may be fired for the attack, Moore may not stick around long enough to see because she’s hinting that she may leave the show first.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Moore criticized Bravo for failing to take immediate action against Williams.
“We all agree that we don’t condone violence,” Moore said. “We’ve become angry with each other; we’ve threatened each other and gone to the edge. But at the end of the day, we know there’s a line. If there are no consequences, then where does it end?”
Although Williams has not been fired, she did turn herself into police after charges were filed against her for the fight. Williams claims that she “blacked out” after being provoked by Moore, who was taunting Williams with a bull horn and abrasive remarks about Williams’ failed marriage. Williams explains that she regrets attacking Moore, but Moore says that Williams was the aggressor in the fight.
“I think Porsha was in a position to provoke me,” Moore said.
Moore also claims that Williams’ violent outburst is proof that she doesn’t belong on reality TV.
“If anyone is capable of blacking out and not taking responsibility for their actions, they should not be in this type of environment,” she said. “They do not need a stage such as this.”
“She is a granddaughter of a civil rights leader,” Moore said of Williams, whose grandfather was the late Hosea Williams. “She does not have the tools to navigate this process. It’s just very unfortunate and sad. If I was in her position, the first thing I would do is apologize.”
Well, whether or not Williams apologizes, Moore is allegedly giving serious thought to the idea of quitting the show. Both women were wrong for not only resorting to physical attacks, but also for perpetuating the stereotype that black women are catty, disrespectful and violent towards each other. – nicholas robinson
