Advocates for gun rights often repeat the slogan, “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” But if guns weren’t so easy to obtain, there’s a good chance that a 3-year-old would not be responsible for the shooting death of his mother.

According to police in Miramar, Fla., the 3-year-old was playing with a loaded gun when he accidentally pulled the trigger and shot his 33-year-old mother, Julia Bennett, in the back. The child is apparently unaware of the crime that police are saying that he committed.

However, police may want to further investigate a man who was also in the home during the murder. He called the police and told them what the 3-year-old had done. If the gun belongs to the man, he could be charged with involuntary manslaughter due to negligence.

Expect more developments from this unthinkable tragedy.–a.r.

THIS IS WHY YOU ‘NEVER’ HAVE GUNS IN THE HOUSE!!! THIS IS VERY SAD AND COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. I AM FIRM BELIEVER OF LETTING ONLY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONES TO CARRY A GUN. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY ACCIDENTS THAT HAPPEND.

OMG, you have to be kidding me. Do you know how many pounds of pressure it takes to fire a gun(depending on the kind). This dude shot her and is now trying to pin it on the baby. How low can you go?
