It seems as though hit producer Jermaine Dupri seems to be in a serious financial bind. After barely saving his Atlanta home from being auctioned last week, Dupri has now been hit with a lawsuit by an Atlanta-area woman over missed child support payments after a judge recently ordered him to pay her.
According to accessatlanta.com, the lawsuit has been filed by Sarai Jones, the mother of Dupri’s 7-month-old daughter.
In March, Dupri was ordered by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Margaret Dorsey to pay $2,500 a month and an additional $7,500 to Jones, based on the results of a paternity test.
According to Jones’ attorney, Randy Kessler, Jones hopes that she and Dupri “can work together to co-parent their beautiful baby girl.”
The lawsuit comes just a week after it was reported by WSB-TV that Dupri’s mansion on Mount Paran Road in northwest Atlanta was up for foreclosure and set to be sold on the auction block last week. However, at the last minute, the sale was canceled without apparent reason by the law firm handling the foreclosure.
According to records obtained from Georgia Department of Revenue, Dupri owes the state of Georgia over $493,768.75 in back taxes for the year of 2007.
The news of Dupri’s financial problems comes as a surprise as the megastar producer famous for making hits for the likes of Monica, Usher, Nelly and Mariah Carey, reportedly earned $12 million in 2006, according to Forbes magazine.
What do you think of Dupri’s recent financial and parental troubles?
