Global President of Distribution and Co-Production, FarCor Studios
FarCor Studios is making moves. Founded by Ralph Faquhar and Dwayne
Corbitt in 2006, the fledgling maverick studio is spearheading a new
Hollywood African American Renaissance – both in front of the camera
and behind the scenes. In keeping with their plans for world
domination, FarCor recently named Rose Adkins its new global president
of distribution and co-production. “FarCor Studios is black-owned –
which is amazing in this business,” says Adkins. “FarCor owns its own
TV shows – we own the rights completely.”
With new shows including the hip, animated show “The Jammies” and
popular radio personality Michael Baisden’s “Baisden After Dark”
late-night show, FarCor is off to a running start. Adkins will make
sure that the rest of the world knows exactly how special this studio
is. “All of our film titles and TV programs, I’m responsible for all
international rights – it’s basically getting our shows on the air on
an international level” she shares. “For films, I find co-productions,
[which is an] international production company that comes in, and we
kind of create the film together.”
Adkins has the experience to handle the job. The Santa Monica native is
an industry veteran, having previously worked with Universal Studios
and Telemundo, among others, Adkins welcomed the chance to join the
FarCor family. “Over my career I’ve gone through different jobs and
experiences, [but] FarCor is different because I [have] the opportunity
to work for an African American company that brings these stories to
light,” she says. “I get to take this amazing stuff across [the] seas!”
