Vice President of Sales, AT&T
When people think of a global leader in communications, the first company that usually comes to mind is AT&T. As the company’s vice president of sales, Xavier Williams has helped AT&T hold its position of dominance through implementing effective sales strategies and careful market analysis.
Williams supports the sales efforts of AT&T network and professional services to the Department of Defense and civilian federal agencies. Responsible for the company’s global learning strategy, Williams has been a vital force in AT&T’s successful growth in the marketplace, in addition to its internal development.
“In trial and error, this is what I do and I will have worked with AT&T 17 years next month. I’ve had 15 jobs, so I’ve moved around a lot,” he says. “I’ve always known in each situation that I don’t know these people and they don’t know me, so one of the things that I do is always come in and tell them what my standards are. [I’m] very clear and simple about directions and try not to micromanage them.”
A Washington, D.C. native and graduate of Edinboro University with an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, Williams plans to continue to create initiatives that will help drive continued growth in the future. – jason thompson
