Shari Addison contributes to gospel by going by the numbers and yes, playing with clichés, but she manages to please listeners nonetheless by simply being her talented self. “One More Sunny Day” displays Addison’s skilled, acrobatic vocalizing, and “He Does All Things Well” features more of her great singing. On her self-titled debut, Addison effectively sidesteps mere platitudes to deliver a truly uplifting message with “You Can Rise.” This is a solid effort by an emerging talent. –forrest green III
