Rihanna Possibly Headed to Court

Rihanna Possibly Headed to CourtIf Los Angeles prosecutors have it their way, singer Rihanna will appear in court on June 22 to testify against Chris Brown.

According to Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, the pop star will offer her side of what happened in her alleged beating by then boyfriend, Brown. The court will then decide if there is substantial evidence to send the case to trial. Rihanna will be subject to a cross-examination with Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos.

Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges that he physically assaulted Rihanna on February 8. If convicted Brown faces sentencing which may range anywhere from probation to a possible maximum of 4 years and 8 months in prison. The legal experts weighing in on the case believe that it is unlikely that it will be taken to trial. Most sources have said that a plea deal will be the most likely scenario and that such a deal could possibly be reached before Brown’s court appearance at the end of the month. –gavin philip godfrey
