Pleasure P has all the makings of a VH1 special — a messy breakup from a boy band, a period in which he found himself musically, and the subsequent release of a great debut album. Pleasure’s debut showcases not only his smooth vocals, but his ability to bring a track to life. Full of groovy mid-tempo ditties like the standout “Deserves an Encore,” and “Gotta Have It” produced by Tank, P goes to great lengths to prove that he was the talent behind Pretty Ricky, and does so successfully, as this is easily one of the best R&B albums of the year. –jh
