“What people didn’t get to see on the show is one, I got selected to be on the show because of my music,” the New Jersey-born, Georgia-raised rapper says. “The thing is, on the show, they downplayed it a little bit. My music is not a joke, it’s 100 percent authentic.”
With that in mind, Dru-Ski is ready to show hip-hop that it’s time for a new generation to take over.
“You have dance rappers, gangster rappers, but I’m the player rapper,” he says of the release, which features production from Bad Boy producer Meal Ticket as well as Grand Hustle beatsmiths, Nard & B and Marvelous J. “But I can be like a chameleon if I have to,” he adds.
Featuring the single, “Booty Talk” which has garnered significant Internet buzz, Dru-Ski is currently working on his full-length album, which he promises will be “playerific.”
“I pride myself on being able to take part in the new school of hip-hop,” he says, mentioning that he feels he was born into the game because his father was a DJ. “The possibilities for me are limitless and I just have to keep on striving. When something is real, you can’t deny it.” –jh
