Chris Brown Cops a Plea

 Chris Brown Cops a Plea

You just knew this thing would never reach trial. The June 22 assault hearing for pop star Chris Brown ended with a plea agreement between Brown’s attorneys and the prosecution. Brown, 20, pled guilty to the highly publicized assault of fellow star Rihanna.

Under the terms of the agreement, Brown will serve five years of probation and serve 180 days in jail or the equivalent, which is about 1,400 hours in “labor-oriented service,” according to Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. Brown must also attend a yearlong domestic-violence counseling class. The judge also ordered that Brown stay 100 feet away from Rihanna, a detail that her attorneys requested not be handed down.  –dewayne rogers
