From now until Sept. 6, fans will receive a free ferry ride to the tennis matches thanks to PowerAde Zero and tennis star Venus Williams. Williams was the captain of the maiden voyage of PowerAde Zero’s tennis taxi shuttling fans back and forth to the matches. The complimentary Manhattan-Queens ferry leaves from and returns to the E. 35th St. Marina (off the FDR), and drops off at the World’s Fair Marina. Fans can reserve their spot on the ferry at zeroferry.com. The ferry service will run through Sept. 6 only. No purchase is necessary.
Complimentary PowerAde Zero drinks will also be available for passengers who want to replenish their electrolytes. It comes in strawberry, mixed berry and grape flavors, and is artificially sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame potassium.
The tennis icon started endorsing the zero calorie sports drink last spring and this is just one of a long list of successful deals. In an interview with USA TODAY, Williams shared, “I can’t keep it in my refrigerator — everyone takes them,” Williams says. “Grape is my favorite. Purple is my favorite color, and grape is the best flavor, and that’s the one that’s always gone.”
In 2001, she had the richest endorsement deal for a female when she joined Reebok. Other endorsements include Wrigley’s (with younger sister Serena), Avon, Puma and Nike. –yvette caslin
