In light of the former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson’s recent arrest for drug possession in Atlanta, current NFL player Atlanta Falcons defensive end defends his name and image:
“Since our names sound the same, I understand the nonstop mix-up between me and Mr. Jamal Anderson, the retired running back for the Atlanta Falcons. I just wanted my family, friends, fans to know that my name is spelled with two (2) A – JAMAAL.
Some of the current news reports or references have been inaccurate about me and are upsetting my family and friends. For the record, my name is Jamaal Glenn Anderson, #98 of the 2009 NFC Playoffs Atlanta Falcons team.
I was actually celebrating my 23rd birthday with family, friends and teammates this weekend as a kickoff for my Jamaal Anderson Foundation to benefit programs for the deaf community.
My family and I would like to extend our prayers to Mr. Anderson and his family during this difficult time.” — JAMAAL ANDERSON
(Statement from current NFL Player, Atlanta Falcons Defensive End #98, 2007 No. 1 NFL Draft Pick, 2009 NFC Playoffs Player and 2009 NFL All-Star nominee).
