Rihanna identified as woman in Chris Brown battery case
According to reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, singer Rihanna, was the victim of Chris Brown’s attack. A source close to Brown, 19, and his girlfriend, Rihanna, 20, says that the unidentified woman in the earlier reports was in fact the Grammy-winning songstress. Brown and Rihanna were last seen together at a pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hills Hilton. Police received a call from a woman at 12:30 a.m. When authorities arrived at the scene, Rihanna was alone and Brown had fled. Brown recently turned himself in and was released on $50,000 bail. Brown is set to appear in court on March 5th.
Police dispel rumors of DJ Khaled’s apparent suicide
A report out of L.A., has confirmed that Miami-based, DJ Khaled, was not the man killed during a high-speed chase. The rumor of a possible suicide hit the web after a man who resembled Khaled led officers on a 4-hour pursuit through the city. After the chase concluded last night at11:00 p.m., the authorities approached the $100,000 Bentley only to find their suspect slumped in the seat after taking his own life. The man found in the car was from Pakistan, which led people to believe that he could’ve been Khaled, who is of Palestinian descent. Khaled called into L.A.’s Power 106 to clear everything up. “[I’m currently] making hits in Miami,” Khaled said.
Nas and Damian Marley are set to release collaborative album
One is a hip-hop legend, the other is the son of a reggae God. Recently, Nas and Damian Marley announced their plans to release an album together. According to a report, the two musicians have been on the West coast recording for several weeks. Nas’ manager recently told Billboard Magazine that the product is set for a spring 2009 release. There have also been talks of distribution deals with Target and Wal-Mart, with proceeds going towards the construction of a school in Africa. Both artists hope to also go on a summer tour for the album. –gavin philip godfrey
