LAS VEGAS – The CES Convention is not the sole domain of the high-tech geek and computer connoisseur anymore.
The greatest indicator that the CES Convention in Las Vegas has scored serious cool points is the long list of celebrities making appearances to promote products and technology trends at the largest electronic convention in the world. It doesn’t hurt that the Consumer Electronics Show takes place in Sin City.
Music producing legend Dr. Dre, pop goddess Lady Gaga, “The Price is Right” host Drew Carey, NBA legends James Worthy and Chris Mullin, baseball stars Prince Fielders and Torii Hunter, Olympic stars Tyson Gay and Shannon Miller, rocker Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe fame and “Real Housewives of New York City” star Jill Zarin.
No one from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” will be appearing. In all, more than 30 celebrities and prominent personalities will be on hand.
Each confirmed celebrity will make an appearance at specific times promoting different products somewhere inside the Las Vegas Convention Center throughout the rest of the week. For example, Lady Gaga will promote Polaroid and Monster; Jill Zarin of the “Real Housewives” will appear in the Kodak booth; Prince Fielder will come through for Sharp; James Worthy will give Haier America some shine; famed author James Patterson will stand in for Marvell; Tyson Gay will provide a jolt for Sennheiser Electronic Group; and Amber Ettinger, aka “Obama Girl,” will pose for Kodak.
The CES Convention runs from Jan. 7–10. –terry shropshire
