Tameka “Tiny” Cottle should take the charge in T.I.’s felony drug bust in Los Angeles, suggests rapper 50 Cent.
In a series of messages to his Twitter followers, multimillionaire rapper 50 Cent implored the ex-Xscape singer to take the fall in order to spare her bread-winning husband from a possible career-killing prison sentence.
“I’m gonna let you motherf***er$ $uffer of boredom till I return But that TI s**t is bad,” Curtis Jackson tweeted. “Man TI and tiny done got picked up agin for methamphetmines and ecstacy dam man. Tiny gotta take that charge. Say it was yours Baby.”
As most urbanites are acutely aware by now, the couple were arrested and charged with felony drug possession Sept. 1 in West Hollywood, Calif., after a routine traffic stop. When officers detected the pungent smell of herb wafting from the newlywed’s ultra-expensive whip, they had probable cause to execute a thorough search of their car. Police reportedly uncovered a small amount of ecstasy, other pills that are currently awaiting testing and Styrofoam cups with alleged traces of “sizzurp,” a hip-hop colloquialism for the purple codeine-based cough syrup used as a recreational drug that has gained popularity in recent years.
But instead of trying to persuade Tiny to take the rap to spare Tip a possible prolonged prison bid, 50 Cent should have suggested that the wife and mother of T.I.’s kids get checked into a clinic. She is obviously a drug addict if she did not consider the disastrous consequences T.I. would face if the convicted felon was found guilty of another felony, not to mention what she faces herself. For Tip to even be in the same vicinity of controlled substances is a bad look. It is not looking good for the home team.
Furthermore, the federal prosecutor sort of put his neck on the line when he helped spare T.I the whole bid for the felony weapons conviction last year. The next prosecutor is not likely to be so lenient this time around.
Fitty should have also mentioned that Tiny needed to have been a better custodian over her husband’s life and career. Someone in that household needed to be clean — or at the very least, demand that Tip not drive around with drugs in the car — instead of being an enabler for T.I.’s alleged uncontrollable drug habit. Curtis Jackson should have also said that one of the parents needs to remain clean, if not for legal reasons, then for the sake of their impressionable offspring.
Moreover, even if Tiny were to do as 50 Cent suggested, what would prevent the courts from throwing her under the jail? Remember that Tiny, 35, was busted three years ago with Tip for possession of marijuana and ecstasy — while Tiny was pregnant. So, while she may be worried about her husband, she should also be concerned about her ability to stay on the outside of barbed-wire fences. –terry shropshire
