The world famous Harlem Globetrotters made a special appearance in Chicago at Cordi-Marian Child Development Center during the Thanksgiving holiday. They were in town to participate in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday parade.
To the delight of children, parents and staff, Globetrotters Hotshot Branch and Buckets Blakes combined basketball wizardry and education while putting on a mini Globetrotter basketball camp. The pair stressed the importance of a healthy mind and body and taught the children how to spin a basketball and do trick ball passes.
Once it was all said and done, the lessons Hotshot and Buckets taught their young fans (Harlem Globetrotters style) were cooperation, teamwork, discipline, responsibility, dependability, practice and respect – all important character building attributes.
It was a wonderful event. And as made evident by the smiles and cheers from the children, it’s one that will long be remembered. –bernard williams
The Globetrotters will play over 270 games in 220 cities starting Dec 26 on their “4 Times the Fun” World Tour.
