Designer Yeohlee Makes Music Fashionable, Shows Fall Line During New York Fashion Week

altYeohlee showcased her Fall 2011 collection outside the tents at the heralded Lincoln Center. Models walked the store catwalk and ended on 38th Street in the middle of the Garment District.alt

The Fall 2011 Collection: It introduces a system of dressing that has a multicultural aesthetic and a nomadic feel.

Inspiration: Experimental musical instruments created by the Baschet Brothers, Harry Bertoia’s brass and steel sound scupltures and the wind-powered Singing Ringing Tree by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu.

How to Rock It: The Bolivia-created, hand knitted cylinder cape can be worn over an alpaca poncho over the bubble knit polo shirt in fabric from Japan.

The metallic dresses are made from the lightest weight fabric woven with silver threads on black sheer viscose. The fabric shines through with a minimal number of cuts and seams to each dress. They can be worn with black tights and shoes.alt

Yeohlee’s Fall 2011 line is a celebration of fabric, yarns, textures and colors, of contrasts in weight and surface, and of the sleek and the street. –yvette caslin
