In the article, Carey reveals that before she knew the sex of her twins she made the conscious decision to keep things gender-neutral regarding the babies.
“Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender neutral because I didn’t want to impose an identity on them too soon,” explained Mariah. “There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are and rumors about them being two boys or two girls — but nobody guessed this!”
During a recent visit to “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” Carey talked further about her choice to be open about her children’s gender expression, specifically when it comes to having a daughter.
“I’m not going to impose pink on a girl. You think I’m really going to go that hard with it?” to which Ellen comically responded, “When that baby comes out, you’re going to have high heels on it immediately.”
Whether she ends up dressing her babies in pink and blue or purple and fluorescent beige, we’re sure she and Cannon will just be happy to be proud parents of healthy twins.
