What was your style when you guys first hit the scene?

Ben J: Our style represented what was going on with the Hyphy movement. We put on for L.A. and the entire [state of] California.

Legacy: Back then, our style was about skinny jeans with zebra .print. Now, our jeans aren’t as skinny as they used to be. We’re more with the vintage swag with Jordans and Snap Backs all day.

What was the most important thing you guys learned about the industry?

Ben J: We learned that people will hate regardless. Haters will be everywhere and will try to knock you down. But you have to keep making music and remain humble. You never know who can help you in the long run.

Why did you guys name your album Too Cool to Care?

Ben J: We had to face so much criticism when we first came out. People wanted to box us in with skinny jeans. … Our mind-set was not to care what other people were saying. This is our music.

Legacy: We wanted to do things different[ly]. We just came back from Europe and we listened to the songs that were being played. We want a more international feel to our music this time and we’re going to do it regardless of what people think.
