Usher continues to silence the critics by quietly going about his work and making good music in the process. There are those who consider Usher to be a “has-been,” a singer who’s past his prime when it comes to reigning supreme as the master of his musical domain. But, those critics would be hard-pressed to find a compelling argument to support those claims now that he has walked away with two more Grammy wins. Not only has his personal demise been overstated, but the singer has also struck gold by discovering Justin Bieber, arguably the world’s biggest pop star. Usher discussed both, in detail, following the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
His thoughts on Justin Bieber losing “Best New Artist” to Esperanza Spalding…
I can’t lie and say that I’m not disappointed. I obviously wanted Justin to win. But, I’ve been down this same road before, where I thought I should have won the award and didn’t. Hopefully, this will add to his story and help to define him going forward.
His thoughts on his Grammy performance…
I felt good out there. This will give fans an idea of what they will get when they come to my tour this year.
His thoughts on people underestimating him…
It comes with the territory. I’ve been in this business a long time, so I’m used to being prematurely written off. I don’t let it affect me though. As long as I continue to work hard, those things will take care of themselves. I just appreciate the fans that continue to stick with me.
