Will.i.am Launches Mobile App, Will.i.apps, Joins Intel as Creative Innovator

William James Adams Jr., aka will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, recently announced he will be launching a mobile application development company called will.i.apps.

This seems to be a popular trend among major music artists these days. But will.i.am is taking it a step further. On Tuesday, Feb. 1, Intel Corp. announced that the artist-producer will be joining the world’s largest computer chip maker as the firm’s director of creative innovation.

The new app from the Black Eyed Peas is unlike any previous application. For a mere $2.99, it allows the owner to follow each band member’s Twitter feed with photos and to even position the band in a 3-D photo shoot. Even stranger is that if you aim the iPhone camera at the Black Eyed Peas’ latest album cover, and an avatar of one of the band members pops out and dances to the beat.

“Nearly everything I do involves processors and computers, and when I see an Intel chip I think of all the creative minds involved that help to amplify my own creativity,” he said in a press release. “Teaming up with the scientists, researchers and computer programmers at Intel to collaborate and co-develop new ways to communicate, create, inform and entertain is going to be amazing.”

The app is called “BEP360” and it is the first app to be released by will.i.apps for the Apple Inc. iOS platform. The 3-D feature allows users to swing their phones around a 360-degree axis for a total immersion experience of the video. If you have an Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, a demo version is available online.
