50 Cent and Robert De Niro Reunite in New Cop Flick ‘Freelancers’

The last time fans saw 50 Cent and Robert De Niro on-screen together was in the 2008  crime drama, Righteous Kill. But now the two bad boys are teaming up once again for the upcoming cop drama, Freelancers.

According to deadline.com, 50 Cent will star as the son a slain NYPD officer who follows in his father’s footsteps and joins the police academy along with his two best friends. Once he’s an officer, he’s taken under the wing of his slain father’s former partner, Captain Vic Sarcone (De Niro), and joins Sarcone’s Street Vice Crime Task Force.

While 50 Cent and Robert De Niro may be enough to bring reel in moviegoers to the film, fans may also be able to look forward to seeing another acting heavyweight, Forest Whitaker, who’s in talks to join the cast of the film as well.

The film, directed by Jesse Terrero and written by Phillipe Cassius, will be the second movie produced through a $200 million 10-film partnership deal with 50 Cent’s Cheetah Vision and Lionsgate Films.

Filming for the movie is set to begin April 12 in New Orleans.
