As they say, all great things must come to an end and as announced March 28 by her publicist, Beyoncé has decided to part ways with her manager (and father) Mathew Knowles “on a business level.”
“I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps,” said Beyoncé in a statement to the Associated Press. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”
Beyoncé didn’t give a reason for the split but in a separate statement by Knowles sent to AP, he explained that the split was mutual and that he wishes the best for his daughter in the future.
“Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success,” said Knowles.
Knowles has overseen Beyoncé’s rise from the leader of the multiplatinum girl group Destiny’s Child to solo superstar, helping her release three multiplatinum selling albums, earn 16 Grammys, attain success as in actress in films such as Dreamgirls as well as helping her launch her own clothing line, House of Dereon, and secure lucrative endorsement deals.
Beyoncé’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, didn’t comment on who Beyoncé’s new manager would be, but rumor has it that Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation, will likely step in to fill Knowles’ shoes.
