‘Toya’ Chats With ‘RO’ About New Ventures And Raising A ‘Tween’

'Toya' Chats With 'RO' About New Ventures And Raising A 'Tween'
Toya and Tami

I met the nicest person recently! Her name is Antonia “Toya” Carter. You  may remember her from being on the top-rated reality show on BET called “Tiny & Toya.”

Well, she’s back with a vengeance and starring in her own reality show, “Toya’s Family Affair.”  On the new show, you will see Toya’s extended family and a few surprises along the way.

I got a chance to have a “girl talk” with her, and she told me that she has a new boutique in her hometown of New Orleans called The Garb. It’s full of lines that are chic, but affordable. She said she loves fashion and usually styles herself. I told her I like her rock star look and that she always looks “edgy with a little umph.”

She also has a new book coming out soon titled Priceless Inspirations in which she offers young women guidance and priceless gems of advice that she learned the hard way by having a child at 14 and struggling to find her own voice in a complicated world.

Next, we talked about her new nonprofit organization, Visual Beauty, that helps disadvantaged young women find their own inner beauty and self worth.

Wow, Toya is a very busy lady, but I love the hustle in her. She seemed very passionate about all her endeavors, and I congratulated her on all of her accomplishments.

We also discussed her daughter, Reginae, being a “tween” and the dangers of internet and social media. I told her I have tweens, too, and I’ve seen some things already that I am not too happy about. She told me that she monitors her daughter’s social media sites and deletes things that look suspicious as well as goes through her cell phone and email accounts daily.

Toya spends a lot of time with her daughter, and they love to have mommy-and-daughter days by going on trips together or just having quality time getting manis and pedis. I can tell that she has a great relationship with her daughter because her eyes lit up when she was talking about her.

And, by the way, I got a chance to see an exclusive clip from the show and, of course, it’s full of drama, tears, fights, laughter, love and more. Tune in April 12 on BET for the premiere. You won’t want to miss it! –tami reed
