‘Glee’ Actress, Others Fired Over Inappropriate Tweets

'Glee' Actress, Others Fired Over Inappropriate Tweets
Cast of Glee

In Hollywood, loose lips sink ships, and loose tweets will get you fired.

Nicole Crowther, an extra on the set of Glee, was apparently so overjoyed with her contributions to the show that she unveiled the identities of the show’s prom king and queen.

Brad Falchuk, co-creator of Glee, took to Twitter to fire her behind.
Just how powerful is Falchuk, you ask? Well, Nicole Crowther’s Twitter account is ghost.

And her original tweet that named the king and queen has vanished into the ether.

@nicolecrowther Who are you to spoil something talented people have spent months to create?

@nicolecrowther hope you’re qualified to do something besides work in entertainment.

Crowther did not have a speaking part and was a day-to-day hire and, thus, was not bound by the confidentiality agreements that muzzle the other actors affiliated with the show.

So, Crowther may not work in Hollywood again (under her real name, that is) and she joins a growing pool of instant sharers who find themselves unceremoniously fired.

Gilbert Gotfried, spokesperson and voice of the AFLAC duck, was fired recently after a tasteless Japan tweet. Immediately after the tragic event, Gotfried joked: “I was talking to my Japanese real estate agent. I said, ‘Is there a school in this area?’ She said, ‘Not now, but just wait.’”

Newly minted Cisco exec, theconnor, tweeted: “Cisco offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against a daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.” Cisco rescinded the offer.

CNN Editor Octavia Nasr tweeted: “Sad to hear of the passing of Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah one of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot..” The problem is that Fadlallah was considered to be responsible for killing 260 Americans. She was fired.

David Le, a summer jobs contractor for the Department of Employment Services in Washington, D.C., was hired to help youths in Anacostia find jobs. For a month, he posted racist tweets like this one: “In americas ghetto anacostia… If i get scared I will just yell Chinese carry out! They will not shoot me.” Councilman Marion Barry, who chairs the committee that signs Le’s checks, found his tweets “unprofessional, wrong and racist.” Oh, you know how that story ends.

Be wise. You are what you tweet. –zondra hughes
