Royal Weddings in the MotherlandWhile Prince William and Kate Middleton are garnering worldwide attention for their celebrity-studded wedding, there are royal families in Africa that deserve as much, or more, attention. Here are recent royal weddings that took place in the motherland that were ignored by many in the U.S.

South African President Jacob Zuma gave away his daughter on April 23. Duduzile Zuma, 28, married businessman Lonwanbo Sambudla at Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve in East London. Instead of the standard limo, Duduzile and Lonwanbo arrived at their reception with 12 Lamborghinis in tow. Duduzile wore diamonds worth over one million dollars.


Zulu Princess Bukhosibemvelo married Sipho Nyawo in 2009 in Durban, South Africa. Bukhosibemvelo is the daughter of King Zwelithini. Held at Ntuzuma Full Gospel Community Church, those in attendance included South African President Jacob Zuma and Nigerian chief Adolf Omobude.
