On Mother’s Day, I like so many other mom’s joined the ranks of the pampered and allowed my daughter to treat me to a manicure. I was certainly in need of one, so my young charge selected color samples and after some debate and deliberation, I decided on Sparrow Me the Drama from the new OPI Pirate’s of the Caribbean Collection.
In the photo at left, the polish looks more pink than it really is — on my nails it came out kind of purplish- pink. I’ve always liked OPI polish because its long lasting and hardly ever chips. I was a nail technician for years, and my approach was to apply a nice base coat, apply two coats of polish, swipe the bottom edge of your nails, then apply a top coat and swipe your nails again at the tips. This should prevent nail polish chips.
I also decided to polish my daughter’s nails and she picked out Planks A Lot. The names of the laquers are hilarious and they capture the feel of Pirate’s of the Caribbean beautifully. I’m on day two and my polish still looks great — no chips so that’s a good sign in my book. I’m not surprised though, I’ve been wearing this brand for years on end and it’s been pretty good. My daughter’s nails are still holding up too. Her skin is a bit lighter than mine, and the color looks nice on her too. She likes more of the bold colors and I like the softer colors — kids. The new Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hits theaters May 20th.
