Clarice Taylor, who played Bill Cosby’s mother on “The Cosby Show,” died Monday of heart failure, reports People.com. She was 93. The actress earned an Emmy nomination in 1986 for her recurring role as Anna Huxtable, mother of Dr. Cliff Huxtable. She was the perfect additive to the show. After working on stage, radio, TV and film for over five decades, Taylor’s big break came when she played Harriet, David’s grandmother, on the long-running children’s show “Sesame Street .” She also starred with Clint Eastwood in the 1971 “Play Misty for Me.” starred alongside Liza Minelli in 1970’s Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon and played Grady’s Cousin Emma on Sanford and Son.
The actress was a member of the New York stage group, the Negro Ensemble Company, and helped to pave the way for many African-American actors. Taylor was surrounded by her family during her passing. She leaves behind her two sons, William and James, five grandchildren and I’m sure her 93-year long legacy to all of her family and friends. She will truly be missed.
