Eldorado Red

What do you get when you mix two parts New York lyricism and hustler mentality with a healthy shot of Southern swag? Eldorado Red, a Harlem-raised, Alabama transplant who’s been making quite a noise on the street music scene for the past several years.

With a string of mixtapes to his credit and hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube for his numerous videos, ‘Rado is readying his next offering, “Jeffe Music The G5 Edition,” for a summer release. Backed by esteemed Atlanta radio personality Greg Street and with assistance from his popular radio single, “Fresh Cut ft. Rich Boy,” expectations are that “Jeffe Music” will be ‘Rado’s biggest release yet. –alex green

Tell me about “Jeffe Music The G5 Edition?”

I’m bringing a more polished sound, a more visual campaign and bigger records, not just mixtape records. DJ Skinny executive-produced the project. He gave me the mob sound that I been looking for. I also got Mike Will on the tape, who I been working with since day one. The Agents produced the “Lebron Jamez” record, which has Waka Flocka on it. My features include Jacka, Rich Boy, my artist, Bambino Gold, and my R&B artist, Haisha Porter.

How did you and Rich Boy decide to team up?

The “Fresh Cut” record was produced by my producer, Chase, and he sampled Rich Boy’s voice on the hook. I brought it to Greg Street, and he thought it would be a good idea to just get Rich Boy on the record. And through that relationship, like they say in show biz, the rest is history. I wanted to show some Alabama camaraderie.

Your fan base has grown to now include mainstream. Has this affected your sound?

It definitely makes me consider other ideas because, as I get new fans from different cultures and walks of life, I want them to understand my culture and things I come from. I want to put it to them in an articulate way so that it doesn’t come off as so offensive, so they understand there is an art form to even the street culture I speak about.

What upcoming projects are you working on that we should know about?

“Jeffe Music” is coming out in July. I’m also working on the “White Power” mixtape and DVD with Raw Report. We’re still working the “Fresh Cut” song with Rich Boy. Be looking for the “Success” video, which was produced by Infamous, and “Wack Everybody” video, which was produced by J. Reid. Both these videos were directed by John Colombo, who has done videos for Slim Thug, Slaughter House, Crooked I, Joel Ortiz, Jadakiss and some other people.
