Patti LaBelle is an iconic singer. So it comes as no surprise that the wildly popular “Mother Monster” herself, Lady Gaga, would appreciate LaBelle as well. On June ), the two stars showed their mutual love by serenading each other on stage in a duet of “Over The Rainbow.”
According to Billboard, the serenade occurred at the after-party for the CFDA awards, where earlier in the evening, Gaga was honored with the year’s Style Icon award.
While singing on stage for Gaga at NYC’s Standard Hotel, LaBelle called the “Born This Way” singer, who was dressed in nothing but a sheer bodysuit, aqua-green bob wig, black thong and nipple pasties, from the audience to join her in a rendition of the Judy Garland classic,“Over The Rainbow.”
Embracing each other as they shared a microphone, the two traded a flurry of earth-shattering runs, cheering each other on the whole way through. And as their serenade came to a close, Gaga and LaBelle shared a loving embrace and exchanged “I love you’s,” bringing a heartwarming end to a historic duet that could only be described as one of a kind. –nicholas robinson
