Occupation: Producer of the runway show, “The Fashion Revolution,” owner of Boutique Revolution and former model.
Why did you decide to produce the annual event, The Fashion Revolution?
There are no events in the Milwaukee area like The Fashion Revolution. We are the only one who consistently produces a show with the goal of pushing creative individuals.
How do you give back?
The Fashion Revolution team also offers a scholarship to students attending college in fashion majors.
Why is it so important to give back and award scholarships to students?
The Fashion Revolution has been based on shedding light to aspiring individuals in the arts since the beginning. It’s great and inspiring to help other young professionals’ dreams come true. Every year, we look for deejays, backstage help, makeup artists, models, designers, marketing and PR hopefuls that are looking for that extra boost to express their talents. With every year, we strive to put Milwaukee more and more on the map as being a progressive, fashionable city in the Midwest.
Why did you decide to stay in the Midwest as opposed to going to New York, Paris or Milan to pursue your love for fashion?
Milwaukee is pretty behind when it comes to trends, but, overlooking all that, Milwaukee’s fashion [scene] is slowly becoming less and less underground. Most of the time, events happen, and people don’t attend simply because they just didn’t know about them. That’s the one major setback. If more people saw what we saw and hear what we hear when we talk to young artists and professionals, they’d be just as hyped to bring Milwaukee’s fashion to the surface.
What do you think is the difference between fashion and style?
Fashion is worldwide and a way of life that can change right along with the seasons. Style is something that will never change. It [showcases] individuality and comes from within.
What impact do you expect to make in the industry with your business?
I expect to bring the art and history of [the] industry to the inner city, while educating those who are blind to how much of an impact the fashion industry has on our society and our lives. The business and social aspect brings people of different ages, cultures and beliefs together. They find their own place in the world of fashion. I [have] the opportunity to make an impact in a way that gives me more satisfaction than anything I ever dreamed of.
What is your vision for the fashion industry in the Milwaukee market?
As an organization, The Fashion Revolution is trying to revolutionize the fashion scene in Milwaukee, as a whole, by bringing awareness of the growing industry and educating locals about the many opportunities and endless amount of inspiring individuals that call Milwaukee home.
