It was my first rooftop party this summer, and it was pinktastic, as my girl Talking with Tami would say. Author and columnist Candace Bushnell was in town signing her latest book, Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel at the W Hotel in Buckhead.
Hpnotiq Harmonie was on deck, literally, and the cocktails were free-flowing at the “Summer and the City” soirée. The spirit’s makers are calling this beverage the newest addition to its Girls Night Out Crew. The refreshing, premium French vodka cocktails, infused with fruits and flowers, were accompanied by delectable desserts and passed hors d’oeuvres.
In the Harmonie Zen lounge, guests partook in their choice of pampering services: eyebrow waxing (which I couldn’t pass up), a nail polish change and a hand massage provided by Bliss Spa. We were wooed with signature Hpnotiq Harmonie-inscribed, purse-sized gifts, including nail files, compact mirrors and yummy lip glosses.
During the invitation-only affair, Bushnell warmly greeted each and every guest and invited us into her cabana to provide us with complimentary, signed copies of her new book, which is the sequel to The Carrie Diaries.
Guests also got their socialite on in a photo booth where they played dress up in feather boas and other girlie accessories and enjoyed music played by a live deejay.
Bushnell is the critically acclaimed, international, best-selling novelist whose first book, Sex and the City, exposed the sex and dating lives of Manhattan’s upper crust. She has influenced more than two generations of women with her subsequent books, movies and television series. When asked what does success feel like, she answers, “It’s nights like these when I really feel successful. Otherwise, it’s work.”
