As of late, President Barack Obama has received heavy criticism from a number of sources including outspoken rapper Lupe Fiasco. And while many feel that the criticism is unwarranted and out of line, hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is claiming that any criticism President Obama has received is “fair.”
According to Billboard, on Thursday night, July 7, during a private listening session for his collaborative album with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, Jay-Z was asked to weigh in on the recent criticism of President Obama.
“He’s the president, it’s fair,” said Jay-Z to a small crowd of journalists at New York’s Mercer Hotel.
“You gotta fix [the country’s current climate]. Can’t fix it all in one day. Numbers don’t lie, it’s f—-d up out there. Unemployment is still high,” added Jay-Z.
The Roc Nation CEO’s words rang even more true when hours later the Labor Department released its monthly jobs report, which found national unemployment numbers rising to 9.2 percent in the month of June.
Hov then threw some humor into the mix, joking about how President Obama should have allowed him to announce Osama Bin Laden’s death on May 1.
“He was a threat, you know what I mean? We handled that,” said Jay-Z in a street tough accent before breaking into laughter.
Well, as they say, all is fair in love and war. And perhaps that applies to politics as well. –nicholas robinson
