Rapper Soulja Boy may have fooled the press about buying a $55 million on a G-5 private plane, but the Atlanta rapper hasn’t fooled the IRS, who recently filed a $26,000 lien against Soulja Boy for delinquent taxes.
According to the Detroit News, the state of California filed a $26,805 lien against the 21-year-old rapper on March 24 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds.
The website also reports that Soulja Boy’s home in McDonough, Ga., was foreclosed on last year.
In addition to the California lien, Soulja Boy was also hit with a $3,571 lien by the state of Mississippi on Feb. 8 in Madison County Circuit Court for unpaid taxes. However, according to RadarOnline, the “Pretty Boy Swag” rapper paid the bill on July 22.
Strangely enough, Souljah Boy landed at No. 18 on Forbes hip-hop top earners list in 2010, reportedly earning $6 million from touring and ringtone downloads.
Considering all of his financial woes, it’s becoming easier to understand why the fame hungry rapper would pull such a prank to grab some media attention. But perhaps when Soulja Boy gets his next major paycheck, he should try to spend his money more wisely and pay off his debt.
