Keshia Knight Pulliam recently launched her nonprofit Kamp Kizzy to empower young girls.
Kamp Kizzy’s kickoff included a two-day summer day camp at Pulliam’s alma mater Spelman College. More than 100 girls ages 11 to 16 years old participated in the camp, which featured various activities including an acting workshop with The Alliance Theater’s “The Real Tweenagers” production, health and sex education classes, a campus tour of Spelman, and the creation of body image silhouettes and vision boards.
Friends of Kamp Kizzy, Ludacris, Trina, actor Christian Keyes, and former Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin, stopped by to show support and offer words of encouragement to the girls.
“Kamp Kizzy’s summer camp kick-off was a huge success,” Pulliam said. “I tried to hold back the tears, but the emotion was overwhelming…I’m honored to be able to impact these girls, to actually see the difference being made means everything to me.”
