On a hot summer evening, a group of Detroit’s most notable tastemakers met just outside the city, in Birmingham, Mich., to take part in the Grey Goose “True Flavors” dinner series. They convened to welcome Barrio restaurant to the Detroit metropolitan community.  The guest of honor attended was able to cool off, sip signature Grey Goose cocktails and enjoy the dinner sponsored by Grey Goose and Cadillac.  “Cadillac is an American luxury brand that celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit. We proudly support new Detroit businesses that are infusing new life and vitality into the city we call our world headquarters,” said Jocelyn Allen, of General Motors Regional Grassroots and Diversity Communications.

Barrio is a exhilarating Mexican restaurant located in downtown Birmingham. It’s exposed brick walls, complemented by graffiti art and hard wood floors, give Barrio a funky, urban chic feel. VIP honorees included Donald Butler, V.P. of Marketing for Cadillac and Detroit Lions rookie running back, Mikel Leshoure.  “I am honored to serve as Grey Goose’s Market Influence Manager. This position allows me to leverage the world’s most esteemed spirits brand, to create extraordinary experiences for Detroit’s consumers. This dinner honoring Don and Mikel is but one example of the sexy events I am producing on behalf of Grey Goose. We are fortunate to have partners like the Dali Group and Barrio, to partner with us in creating these memorable experiences,” said Dennis Archer, Jr. event host and president of the Ignition Media group.

As the evening progressed guests enjoyed great Mexican fare and had the opportunity to meet some of Detroit’s movers and shakers like Brooke Ellis, Manager of Diversity Media, General Motors and Katherine Cockrel, Director of Strategic Communication, Ignition Media group. It was an honor to be in the company of Motown’s game changers. -al weems
