Ludacris has long been an advocate for education and the arts. Recently, his philanthropy reached a new height. After announcing earlier this year that he’d teamed with Better World Books and DoSomething.org to launch the Epic Book Drive, which helps provide books to the Recovery School District in New Orleans, reports have confirmed that the cause has now provided books to more than 30,000 New Orleans students.
According to HipHopDX, a press release sent by the Epic Book Drive confirmed that more than 100,000 participants supplied over 250,000 school books to the drive, helping to restock 69 libraries that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Luda, who served as a spokesperson for the Epic Book Drive, promoted the cause with a series of PSAs, and now that the book drive has more than met its goal, Luda is attributing its success to the helping hands of those around the country.
“I’m proud to be a part of the Epic Book Drive and to see that over 100,000 young people participated,” said Luda. “By collecting such a huge number of books for those in need, teens around the country showed they haven’t forgotten about New Orleans and the Recovery School District.”
