Jay-Z’s life is about to change in a drastic way as the first-time father is expecting a child with wife, Beyoncé. And with a baby on the way, the already focused rapper now has even more reason to be concerned about the future, not only for himself but for his growing family and the world around him. While hosting a recent charity fundraiser in New York City, Jay discussed his excitement over his first child, his philanthropic efforts and President Barack Obama’s re-election.
While chatting with E! Online at the event, Jay explained that he’s just as thrilled about being a parent as Beyoncé is, saying, “I’m excited! I think that is pretty easy.”
Hov also expressed excitement about the work of his Shawn Carter Foundation, which provides scholarships to kids in need of financial assistance and has handed out over $1.1 million, which has helped over 750 students pay for schooling.
“Someone emailed me this morning and said ‘Some people climb the ladder and grab the ladder. And some people pull more people up the ladder and you are a person who pulls more people up the ladder.’ I was very humbled by that,” said Jay. “If you want to be lazy, that’s a different thing. But if you apply yourself and do everything that you have to do to get to a certain point and can’t go further because of your financial situation, I think that is a shame.”
Shifting gears from nation’s future leaders to our current commander in chief, Jay-z shared his opinion on Obama’s re-election.
“I still think he is the best man for the job,” he explained. “Yes, I think he got a raw deal and a bad economy. You wouldn’t be given anything you can’t handle so he must be really special, because he has a lot of work to do!” –nicholas robinson
