Vybz Kartel, the reggae artist who infamously bleached his skin, has launched a skin care line of bleaching products for men who want to get a reverse tan.
According to theybf.com, Kartel is coming out with a men’s skin care line that will include items that can be used to lighten the skin. During an interview where Kartel defended his use of cake soap to lighten his skin (it’s rumored that lighter skin implies wealth), he said: “I wanna see them in Macy’s and all other fine retailers worldwide”
The “Vybz” product line includes a skin brightener, body brightening soap, and what appears to be a fragrance or spritz of some sort, based on the image below.
Kartel plans to market his products in the Caribbean first — after he handles his criminal court case in Jamaica involving murder, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of firearm charges stemming from the shooting death of Barrington Burton.
Well, Macy’s it looks like you have another possible collaboration on your hands. Do you think this line is as absurd as it sounds or is Kartel smart for attempting to profit off a touchy subject in the African American community?
