Common will be releasing his ninth album The Dreamer, The Believer on Dec. 20. In preparation for the upcoming release, Common held a private listening party at Jermaine Dupri’s studio in Atlanta on Nov. 16. Ne-Yo, Young Jeezy and Keri Hilson were in attendance to show support as Common introduced and performed several tracks from the new album.
He also took a moment to speak about the meaning behind the album’s title., The Dreamer, The Believer.
“I show different sides of myself on this album,” Common said. “I worked with No I.D. who produced the entire album. And I have Maya Angelou on it. I have songs that you want to party to and songs that’ll make you want to fight. You’re going to know it’s hip-hop. But I call it The Dreamer, The Believer because I want all of the music to motivate you. There are times when I’m having fun, but I want to inspire people too.” –amir shaw
