Penn State Scandal Exposes the Silent Suffering of Little Boys: 4 Black Celebrity Men Discuss Past Abuse

CNN news anchor, Don Lemon, was facilitating an on-air discussion about the allegations of pedophilia that had been made against Bishop Eddie Long, when he suddenly revealed to his audience that the alleged words Long spoke to the accusers sounded similar to those Don himself had once heard from a pedophile who had molested him.

“I am admitting something that I have never admitted on TV. I, too, was a victim of a pedophile who was much older than I was as a child. The words they used of  ‘you’re not gay if you do this,’ are some of the same things my abuser said to me.”

Lemon also said on-air that although the news was shocking, it was something that he was only recently able to discuss.

“I have never admitted that on television,” Lemon said later in the broadcast. “I didn’t tell my mom [about the incident] until I was 30 years old .”

After receiving much praise for revealing the painful experience on national television, Lemon addressed viewers and fans via Twitter for their support: Thank you all for your kind words. I had no idea I’d say that … It just came out. Sadly, it’s the truth for so many young men.”
