50 revealed the news on New Year’s Eve via Twitter, while discussing the difficulty he was having working with his Interscope team.
“My next album is great. It’s [a] shame the hardest people to work with were suppose[d] to be on the same team with me. SK,” tweeted 50. “I’m not doing any press for this album. I worked really hard on it my music speaks for itself. I may put out another mixtape for fun. SK. Music was so much fun for me now the people and politics involved disgust me …”
On Jan. 2, 50 took things a step further, posting a number of emotional tweets regarding his strained relationship with Interscope.
“I have lost all the faith in the team I’m on. I have nothing left to say. I will not be promoting my music,” tweeted 50. “I’m going to deliver this album then. I have a film I wrote to focus on. I’m not upset, I’m just convinced this is not how I want to be remembered.”
There’s still no release date for 50’s upcoming album, but it is expected to hit stores during the first quarter of 2012, with our without 50’s support. 50 isn’t the only artist who’s having label woes. Check out our list of four other artists who are battling their labels below. –nicholas robinson
