Trumpet Awards founder Xernona Clayton brought firepower to help her ring in the 20th anniversary of the civic awards program at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. Legend Aretha Franklin, Blair Underwood, Tyrese, the Braxton Sisters, Rev. Run of the venerated Run DMC, Cynthia Bailey of “Real Housewives of Atlanta, soul legends Earth, Wind & Fire, R&B bad boy Bobby Brown, and producer Roger Bobb of Bobbcat Films were among the celebrities who walked the carpet. The Trumpet Awards gala was hosted by comedian and television personality Wayne Brady.
Ted Turner, the man who revolutionized modern electronic news with the birth of CNN in the 1980s, was joined by Clayton and his wife on the red carpet that also included Congressman John Lewis, the OJays, Dr. Levi Watkins, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Emmitt Smith, Mayor Cory A. Booker, U.S. Ambassador Nicole Avant and Mary Parker.
The Trumpet Awards will air on April 8, 2012 on TV One.
