The Rev. Al Sharpton will take a moment to himself this week to pay tribute to his late mother.
As previously reported, 87-year-old Ada Sharpton passed away March 22 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The Reverend reportedly heard of her death while on the way to Sanford, Fla., for a rally in support of Trayvon Martin.
After hearing of the news, Sharpton gave a statement via Twitter saying, “My mother, Ada Sharpton passed in the early hours of this morning. She was my all. I hope God will give her now, peace.I love you, Mom. I am on a flight to Florida and will move forward with our plans to protest the killing of Trayvon Martin. My Mom would have wanted me to.”
A viewing for Ada Sharpton will take place today at Center Baptist Church in Newville, Ala., from 5 to 7 p.m.
Sharpton will deliver the eulogy Tuesday, March 27, following a wake at 11 a.m.
