Ray Lewis could be setting himself up for a post-career that involves motivational speaking. The NFL All-Pro linebacker visited the Stanford University basketball team on March 27 to give them a pre-game speech during the NIT tournament.
But instead of providing them with a cliche pep talk, Lewis gave the team words of wisdom that will likely stay with them forever.
“If tomorrow wasn’t promised, what would you give for today?” Lewis asked the players. “Leave your legacy. Everyday is a new day, every moment is a new moment … Because I’m pissed off for greatness. If you aren’t pissed off for greatness, that means you’re capable of being mediocre.”
The rousing speech inspired Stanford to win the NIT tournament with a 75-51 victory over Minnesota on March 29. –amir shaw
